Chief Smith offers our community nearly twenty (20) years of Criminal Justice experience, infact the 20th anniversary of his career in law enforcement will occur on May 15th in the year 2000. Chief Smith is a graduate of Louisburg College, he then went on to achieve a degree in Criminal Justice at NC Wesley College, graduated from the North Carolina Justice Academy, and is also a graduate of Vance Graduate Community College. Chief Smith began his career in law enforcement as a counselor for the Department of Correction. He advanced within his career path to become a Federal Prison Officer, later committing himself as an officer of the Franklin County Sheriff's Department. Chief Michael Smith has been with our community for approximately five (5) years now, I do not believe anyone could consider this gentleman a rookie by any means.
